Homages Flow for the Reiners as Autopsy Reports Remain Under Wraps.
Well beyond 14 days following the shocking loss of renowned filmmaker Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones persist in remembering the couple.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Posting on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, stated he just recently felt ready to post publicly about his deep grief.
"Adequate time has gone by that I can finally put my grief into words," shared Elwes, adding that his first meeting with Reiner made him fall in love. "As we began passing more hours together I knew this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor shared never-before-seen clips from the film, adding that he cannot recall "any day without mirth".
"This story is about affection, allegiance and giving. Values that Rob valued immensely. Which is among the many reasons he was the ideal person to direct it," Elwes wrote.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, noting: "Asserting that they were a great team would be an oversimplification. My heart still pangs every time I think of you." He concluded with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Fellow Artist
In a different piece, revered director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"From the start, I loved being with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the lead role.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked wonderfully with everyone, and he understood the human predicament of his character," Scorsese wrote.
Legal Developments: Autopsy Reports Withheld
Recently, a Los Angeles court official agreed to block the release of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, after an appeal from the LAPD.
A judicial mandate put a restriction on the files to prohibit the public release of "related notes, notes, reports or photos" pertaining to the probe.
The relevant authority had previously confirmed their deaths were the consequence of foul play, with a official listing listing the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
Fallout and Commentary
Following the killings, public personalities offered different reactions.
Ex-President Donald Trump posted on the matter, offering controversial remarks that were broadly criticized by numerous public figures.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his criticism to the critics recently. Talking on his show, Rogan characterized the comments as "disturbing" and remarked they showed a troubling deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan ended by remarking that an associate could have acted when the decision to comment on the passing was made.
