Edwards and Gary O'Neil are two of the early candidates in the frame to succeed Vitor Pereira as manager of Wolves.

Pereira was dismissed on the weekend after the team's 10-match winless beginning to the Premier League campaign.

And Edwards and O'Neil - both of who have previous links to the team - are among the options to be considered by the Wolves ownership.

The manager is presently at Middlesbrough, which would pose a potential hurdle to his appointment at Molineux.

Nevertheless the ex- Luton head coach - who played over a century of appearances for Wolves during his time as a player - is said to be a leading candidate for the position.
